Mushroom Fruiting Bodies?
Mushrooms 101:
Understanding mushrooms begins with mycelium, the larger organism that mushrooms grow from. Mycelium is a complex network-based organism that plays an intricate and fundamental role in the ecosystem. Building from microscopic tubular filaments called hyphae, mycelium develops as a root-like structure branching in all directions. Many overlapping networks of mycelium weave a complex mat underneath the ground, eventually connecting the roots of all plants. Mushrooms are the fruit of mycelium, analogous to an apple on a tree.
Fruiting Body vs Mycelium:
Our extract contains 100% mushroom fruiting bodies – the actual mushroom. We do not use mycelium on grain, mycelial biomass, or any other fillers or unnatural additives in an effort to make the absolute best and most effective mushroom extracts. While mycelium contains beneficial compounds, it cannot be separated from the grain it’s grown on. Even ‘fully digested’ grain dilutes the final product with starch. For maximum potency and efficacy, we only use real mushrooms to pack our bottles with as many beneficial compounds as possible without grain filler taking up precious space.
Extraction:
Raw mushrooms are largely indigestible due to the cell walls being composed of chitin. An extraction process breaks down these tough cell walls making the compounds within bio-available, or easy to absorb. Learn more about OUR EXTRACTION PROCESS.
Mushroom Benefits
Packed with antioxidants and adaptogens, mushrooms contain a host of interesting and unique therapeutic compounds.
Active Compounds:
Polysaccharides & Beta-Glucans:
Polysaccharides have been shown to support anti-tumor, anti-inflammatory, and immune regulation processes.
The most biologically active polysaccharides found in mushrooms are beta-glucans. Beta-glucans bind to receptors on immune cells, activating them to attack foreign invaders in the body.
Vitamins & Minerals:
Mushrooms contain a host of important vitamin and minerals including a nutritionally significant content of vitamins B1, B2, B12, C, D, and E.
Mushrooms promote overall health and wellbeing with a myriad of benefits and properties that stimulate your bodies own natural healing mechanisms.
Many of the active compounds found in mushrooms act as antioxidants and adaptogens.
Antioxidants protect cells from free radicals that contribute to aging and disease.
Adaptogens help the body adapt to stressors and may have a positive impact on stress, fatigue, anxiety, and depression. Additionally, adaptogens may indirectly support hormone balance by reducing stress and promoting overall health.

MUSHROOMS PLAY A VITAL ROLE IN THE HEALTH OF THE ECOSYSTEM
“Nature doth thus kindly heal every wound. By the mediation of a thousand little mosses and fungi, the most unsightly objects become radiant of beauty. There seem to be two sides of this world, presented to us at different times, as we see things in growth or dissolution, in life or death. And seen with the eye of the poet, as God sees them, all things are alive and beautiful.” - Henry David Thoreau
As primary decomposers, fungi exist as a keystone species at the pinnacle of the death rebirth cycle. Underpinning all life on Earth, fungi unlock nutrients from inorganic material and recycle dead organic material, paving the way for new life.
